Plastic

Probably the most controversial invention in the past one hundred years.

But now it looks like it's marching in.

Garment industry

The fate can not be reversed.

Our clothes contain more or less.

Polyester fiber

(Polyester) this kind of material, commonly known as "Dacron" (the child born before 1980s may be very sentimental about this word), but many people do not yet know that it is actually a raw material with plastic bottles, and it is possible to completely take over our wardrobe in the future.

Over the past years, due to the continuous shortage of cotton fabrics, polyester has replaced cotton and has become the world's largest fiber producing product at a rate of 5 million 300 thousand tonnes per year, reaching about 30000000 tonnes this year.

This figure may reach about 90000000 metric tons in 2025.

The most common type of polyester is polyester fiber, which is a kind of plastic extracted from crude oil and is widely used for making coke and ketchup bottles.

When polyester fiber melts, it will produce a texture of cold honey. After passing through the pores of the spinning tube, it will form very long single filament yarn, which will form a fine fiber and produce cloth.

The enthusiasm for man-made fibers is mainly due to the fact that there is not enough room to increase production.

cotton

Now.

More importantly, our demand for new clothes is also growing.

I want to talk about "fast fashion" again.

Many "fast fashion" manufacturers such as H&M choose polyester instead of nylon or rayon because polyester is the cheapest.

With the increase of demand, we will see more and more mixed clothing. More than 98% of fiber production will be synthetic in the future, and 95% of synthetic fiber will be polyester.

Although the material is cheap, people do not have to worry that polyester is hot and airtight, and it looks too low. The polyester has been pformed into a decent technology, and those polyester fibers can be made smaller than human hair.

No wonder some big brands occasionally take advantage of it.

It seems that the future of Dacron has been decided. It is even used by one of the most popular fashion brands today, Sacai and Comme des Gar C. ons.

Because of its easy drying characteristics, polyester is more common in sports products and athleisure sports clothes.

Environmentalists blame the non degradable material of polyester as a greater burden on the earth, but on the other hand, cotton actually consumes water than polyester, and the cotton piled up in the mountain is like this and should not be degraded immediately.
